In Spring 2009, the Association of Nova Scotia Museums embarked on a quest for a new visual identity. In August 2009, the new ANSM logo (as seen on this website) was adopted by the Board of Directors.

Associated with guidance and inspiration, the lighthouse beacon provides a focal point essential to navigation at sea. Nova Scotia is home to the oldest surviving lighthouse in North America, and its shoreline has historically been defined by these unique structures.

Drawing upon this aspect of Nova Scotia's architectural heritage, the graphic element of this logo is a stylized representation of a lighthouse lens. As the motif of the ANSM, it is suggestive both of place and this association's mandate to champion the province's many regional museums through education, outreach, and networking.

ANSM's new visual identity was designed by Graham Blair (http://www.grahamblairdesigns.com/)
