New collections management and general management resources are available.

With help from ITCHY committee members, Collections Coordinator, Karin Kierstead has been compiling and editing examples of forms and policies relating to various aspects of collections management and general management. Information relating specifically to the Passage Collections, Membership & Cemeteries databases is available for download as well as many sample forms and policies useful to anyone operating a museum.

This section will be added to on an ongoing basis and we are interested in hearing about your specific museum management needs.

June has arrived and amongst the many things to think about at the start of the busy summer season is membership renewal for the Association of Nova Scotia Museums. Renewal is timely at this point in the year as museums, staff and volunteers open the doors for the summer season, launch new programming and fundraising initiatives, refresh exhibits and sites and move forward into the next cycle of the museum year. We invite you to join with us as we continue to develop the Association of Nova Scotia Museums into the robust organization it must be serve and support the museums of this province.

Here are some samples and highlights of projects and initiatives both planned and underway.....

Training has always been an important role for ANSM and in the forthcoming year, we will be following through on the key recommendations of the recently completed and approved Training Plan. These include the development and delivery of an eight course core curriculum over a three year rotation, the continued offering of an annual conference in conjunction with the AGM, the delivery of advanced level workshops and the development of a province wide advisory service.

ANSM continues to support and encourage the four regional networks in Nova Scotia in recognition of the strength that is represented when museums and related organizations work collectively. The regional representation model is working well in terms of board and committee participation.
